You can help Project SIGHT by

  • Talking with youth and being involved with youth in a proactive way.
  • Inviting us to speak at different groups you are involved in.
  • Giving a financial contribution.
  • Becoming involved in a Volunteer Opportunity.

Below are a sampling of our many volunteer opportunities:

Project SIGHT Board of Directors: Project SIGHT has a highly motivated Board which meets monthly with committees meetings as needed to accomplish tasks. Board Committees include Finance, Fund Development, Personnel, May Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and Let's Talk Month. The Board sponsors one retreat yearly for the purposes of goal setting and creating work plans. The Board sets policy for Project SIGHT and together with staff sets and maintains goals, mission, and work plans.

Let's Talk Month Committee: Volunteers help this committee with ideas and skills to carry out program ideas for Let's Talk Month which takes place during October and is focused on parent and youth communication about sex and relationships. Activities in the past have included speakers, community forums, drama presentations, etc.

May Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month Committee:Committee members create new ideas to help carry out a statewide campaign on bringing important messages about teen pregnancy prevention to our community. Volunteers help carry out these ideas. In the past events have included Community Forums, Drama presentations, youth messages through posters and radio ads.

Worth the Wait: High School teens participate in a 2 day training to learn skills to present the Worth the Wait curriculum to 6th grade health classes. The goal of this program is to reduce teen pregnancy by promoting healthy relationships and making healthy choices. This fun-filled curriculum uses games and skits to emphasize three main topics: building healthy relationships, the cost of parenting and making good decisions. The high-energy interactive format captures the attention of the students and also increases the presenter's comfort level.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities: Teens Make a Difference in Teen Pregnancy Prevention!!! Our teens have many volunteer opportunities.

Teen Leaders present curriculum to youth ages 12-14 and also are an integral part of our community education program. Teens  have had many training and skills building opportunities while having fun in team building activities.

Project SIGHT is also very open to any teens who would wish to sit on a Board Committee.

Other volunteer Opportunities: There are numerous other ways to support our project. Other tasks that we often need help with are mailing, newsletters, transporting teens and college students to school presentations, organize speaking events in the community (i.e. LION'S Club, Scouts, church groups, etc.), writing articles in the paper, and helping with some office/computer work. Of course any financial contribution is always welcome!
